#ForeverSummer

Some of you may not have made the most of this summer yet. I started my summer in January and I've had enough trips to the beach (for now) so I ended my summer early.

I am so blessed to be in Davao City. Going to the beach does not take much of our time and effort. Nearby Samal Island has a lot to offer. Isla Reta is my favorite island paradise, my go-to whenever I need some sun and sand.

From Sta. Ana Wharf, it only takes about an hour by commercial ferry boats going to Talicud Island. Trips are scheduled from 8am till 4pm and fare is only Php80. It is best to take the 9am and 10am boats especially on weekdays to make sure you are taken directly to Isla Reta. If not, there are smaller boats that can take you to Isla Reta from Talicud Port for Php150-200. If you can handle the weight of your stuff, you may walk about 100 meters from the port.

We took one of the last trips to the island that day and made it just about an hour before sundown. We also reserved our room a week ahead since it was a weekend and we expected the place to be packed. We just had a quick swim till it was almost dark and we had dinner on a picnic mat on the shore.

We woke up at 4:30am the next day. (In my case, I wasn't able to sleep since 1:30am. Thanks to the rowdy girls next door.) Swimming early in the morning is our favorite thing to do. That is why we always opt to stay overnight on the island just to get the best of it in the morning.

Isla Reta has changed a lot over the years. They now have pavilions for bigger groups. The canteen has also improved its look and its menu. There are more grilling stations everywhere. Despite the development, it is still our same old paradise.

The water remained clear and pristine. It is still blessed with clean white sand. If you've been trying to find Nemo for years, you can find lots of them here along with other fishes.

This is how clear the water is. Your face won't be distorted under water.

Going back to Davao City, boat leaves at 7am, 8am and 3pm. We hopped on the 8am boat from Talicud Port after we had enough swim. It was a quick getaway, just exactly what we needed to end summer. It's forever summer (hashtag that) for me. There are just other things we all need to get busy with. I'll hit the beach again in July.
