A Day in C.D.O.

While Camiguin was our main destination, taking a breather in Cagayan de Oro City after a long bus ride was somewhat necessary.

At the first "pee stop" from Davao City

After having breakfast when we arrived at 5am, we checked in at De Luxe Hotel to take a nap. It has clean rooms, fairly elegant lobby and hallway. Standard room with two twin beds is only for Php990, breakfast included.

After the 10am wake up call, we headed to the Divine Mercy Shrine. We took a cab from the hotel. It took about 40 minutes to an hour before we got there (taxi meter at almost Php300). We asked the cab driver to wait since there are no other rides available from the shrine.

It was scorching hot at noon time. It was not the best time of the day to go up there since there are limited shades. At entrance, ladies are requested to wear their wraps or skirts if you are not wearing a dress or skirt of decent length.

That's me wearing one of the wraps available  for anyone to borrow. I think I pulled the look off, didn't I?

The church is new. The altar is grand, while they are still working on stained glass art at the ceiling. We then went out to see the area. The place has well-maintained lushes. But then again, it was not a good time of the day to be there. They have a daily mass at 3:30pm. You might want to go there at that time, and then look around after mass.

Look at how Kino's cheeks turned red in matter of minutes. That's how hot it was.

From the shrine, we rode in the same taxi to the Prawn House. It's one of the restaurants along the coastline. It's just about 10-15 minutes from the shrine. You might want to reserve a table prior to visit as they are always full. If you can't make up your mind, they have set group meals you can consider ordering.

That pretty chili prawn.

It was still so hot outside so we decided to chill at Centrio Mall, had some cold drinks and doughnuts at J.Co.

Our energy was drained and we decided to take some rest in our hotel rooms, then we woke up just in time for dinner at their Night Market. There were a lot of choices. Some stalls have acoustic performers. We just didn't intend to stay long though since we need to be up early the following day for Camiguin.

Thank you, CDO!
