Our Home for a Day in Mactan Island

We planned our trip three months ahead of time and Bantayan Island was our intended destination. But two weeks before our trip, the news of a capsized ferry scared the hell out of us to sail across an ocean so we had to make other plans. We decided to look for a resort in Mactan, but everything is overpriced and most have limited access to nice beaches. I mean, limited length of shoreline which will not make us happy considering our own pristine beaches in Davao.

While almost giving up on Mactan because prices can really be so high, I came across Maxine's Place by the Beach on Facebook. We were wait-listed as someone else made earlier reservations. Good thing they gave the date up. (Whoever you are, thank you!)

Maxine's Place by the Beach is a 12th floor condo unit in Amisa Private Residences, located at the end of Punta Engaño in Mactan. Its balcony is facing the ocean and it will give you a perfect view of the sunset. When you rent out Maxine's Place, you can have complete access to the condo facilities ---game room, gym, and their beautifully designed swimming pool.

Pool and the clubhouse

My friends arrived from Davao early evening so we still had time for some night swim after dinner.

The unit is fully-furnished with a king-sized bed, a sofa bed, TV and DVD player, and lots of extra mattresses if you come in large group. The kitchen has all the basic things that you need to prepare a decent meal during your stay ---fridge, stove, rice cooker, electric kettle and utensils. You bring as much food as you can at no extra cost. Guests are also provided with some chips, biscuits, candies, drinking water, basic toiletries and towels. It has unlimited wi-fi access so you can share your adventure online real-time.
